Simplified Expressions of the Multi-Indexed Laguerre and Jacobi Polynomials
The multi-indexed Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials form a complete set of orthogonal polynomials. They satisfy second-order differential equations but not three term recurrence relations, because of the ‘holes’ in their degrees. The multi-indexed Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials have Wronskian expressions originating from multiple Darboux transformations. For the ease of applications, two differe...
متن کاملLaguerre and Jacobi polynomials
We present results on co-recursive associated Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials which are of interest for the solution of the Chapman-Kolmogorov equations of some birth and death processes with or without absorption. Explicit forms, generating functions, and absolutely continuous part of the spectral measures are given. We derive fourth-order differential equations satisfied by the polynomials wi...
متن کاملOrthogonality of Jacobi and Laguerre polynomials for general parameters via the Hadamard finite part
Orthogonality of the Jacobi and of Laguerre polynomials, P (α,β) n and L (α) n , is established for α, β ∈ C \ Z−, α + β 6= −2,−3, . . . using the Hadamard finite part of the integral which gives their orthogonality in the classical cases. Riemann-Hilbert problems that these polynomials satisfy are found. The results are formally similar to the ones in the classical case (when Rα,Rβ > −1).
متن کاملOrthogonality of Jacobi Polynomials with General Parameters
Abstract. In this paper we study the orthogonality conditions satisfied by Jacobi polynomials P (α,β) n when the parameters α and β are not necessarily > −1. We establish orthogonality on a generic closed contour on a Riemann surface. Depending on the parameters, this leads to either full orthogonality conditions on a single contour in the plane, or to multiple orthogonality conditions on a num...
متن کاملNon-classical orthogonality relations for big and little q-Jacobi polynomials
Big q-Jacobi polynomials {Pn(·; a, b, c; q)}∞n=0 are classically defined for 0 < a < q −1, 0 < b < q−1 and c < 0. For the family of little q-Jacobi polynomials {pn(·; a, b|q)}∞n=0, classical considerations restrict the parameters imposing 0 < a < q−1 and b < q−1. In this work we extend both families in such a way that wider sets of parameters are allowed, and we establish orthogonality conditio...
